The short version

  • You can cancel Premium within 14 days of subscribing and get a refund, less a pro-rata charge for any service you have already used if you asked us to start straight away.
  • You can cancel at any time after that. Premium then runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights.

Your 14-day cancellation right

If you subscribe online you have 14 days from the day you subscribe to cancel without giving a reason.

When you subscribe we ask you to confirm that you want Premium to start immediately. If you do, and then cancel within the 14 days, we will refund your payment minus an amount in proportion to what you have used up to the moment you told us you were cancelling. [TO CONFIRM: solicitor on how the pro-rata amount is calculated, for example by days elapsed or by analyses used]

How to cancel

  • Billing portal. Open the Premium page and choose “Manage billing”. You can cancel there and download invoices.
  • Delete your account. Deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately. See delete account. Inside the 14 days, email us as well to ask for the refund described above. [TO CONFIRM: solicitor on whether deleting an account inside 14 days should trigger the refund automatically]
  • Email. thecut1@proton.me. Say clearly that you want to cancel.

After the 14 days

Once the 14 days are over, cancelling stops future payments. Premium carries on until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the rest of that period unless the law requires it or we agree to in a particular case.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. Your bank decides how long it takes to show up once we have issued the refund. [TO CONFIRM: how many days we promise to issue a refund, and the timing Stripe and card issuers typically take]

Your statutory rights

Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights if Premium is faulty or not as described. To report a problem, email thecut1@proton.me. See also our terms.
